TANGERINE

Tangerine (Citrus reticulata) is a fruit type grown in mild climates, belonging to the citrus (Rutaceae) family. Orange and yellow in color, Tangerines have a fleshy and juicy texture. The tangerine, whose peel is softer than that of orange, can be peeled and eaten or its juice can be pressed for drinking.

MIHO WASE


Ripens 3-5 days before Okitsu tangerine. Fruit flesh is soft, its peel is of medium thickness and it is a juicy tangerine variety.

DOBASHI BENI


Fruit peel is dark orange in color and is thin. Fruit flesh is orange and pitless. It is one the most cold resistant tangerine varieties. Fruit weight is 120-200 grams.

CLEMENTINE


A round tangerine variety with a unique fragrance and aroma. Its fragrance can cover an entire room. The aroma and taste is quite exquisite and it is a pitty variety.

SATSUMA


Belonging to the Satsuma group, the Okitsu variety also started to be grown in recent years in Turkey and especially in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. The fruits are quite large and flat. It is pitless, easy to peel and is a sweet tangerine variety. It is a resistant type and is 3-5 weeks earlier than Owari.

This tangerine variety has rough and thick peel, light orange color and is an ideal product for many growers and marketers. Despite the fact that the peel is tightly bound to the flesh and is hard to peel, Nova has different taste and aroma than many tangerine variants.

MINEOLA


A Tangelo variety that became prevalent especially in the Eastern Mediterranean Region after the 1980’s. Fruits are quite large and have a pear-like appearance. The stem is distinctively girthy and has few pits. At harvest time the peel is dark orange in color, shiny and smooth, with a thickness of 3.62 mm.

OKITSU


Originates from Japan. It was discovered in 1940 and has slightly rough peel. Fruit pulp is dark orange in color. Shape of fruits is flat and has a 7-8 cm diameter. Adherence of peel to the flesh is loose. Fruit weight is 180-200 grams. Has no pits and puffing is slight.
